Painting Kitchen Cabinets.

Franky Painting Kitchen Cabinets

Here we are painting kitchen cabinets in the house of one of our friends. They went with a satin finish. Not bad at all! We used an H.V.L.P for the finest finish. Are you looking for professional painters in the Lehigh Valley? We know the right crew. Us! We provide excellent results at an affordable price. Our work comes with a 2-year warranty.

So, the big question. How do you paint kitchen cabinets? A lot of people think you just paint the kitchen cabinets and that’s it. As a matter of fact, the painting part is that fastest part that consists of maybe 10% of the whole job. It’s one of those jobs. Prep, Prep, Prep.

First thing we do before painting kitchen cabinets is set up the kitchen to be sprayed. Mask everything that is not being painted. Literally everything not being painted needs to be masked because the paint sprayed will get everywhere. We plasticize the whole kitchen! Lots of time, tape, plastic and paper get used in this step,

Next thing we do is very important. Crazy important! and many people skip this step, DEGREASE! We spray the degreaser, let it sit for a couple minutes then wipe off. Do this a couple times if it’s really greasy. Then we clean with T.S.P. Mix the T,X.P with some very hot water, as hot as it gets. Then use the mixture with some terry cloth towels to clean all the wood being painted. Once the water gets dirty and is not hot anymore, it’s time to change the water. More T.S.P, more clean hot water and clean rags.

We Paint Kitchen Cabinets All Over The Lehigh Valley.

Ready to let it dry and start sanding? Wrong. Now we get some fresh clean rags, fresh hot water and a clean bucket so we can clean the chemicals of the degreaser and cleaner off of the wood. This part is very important too because you will not have a good bond if you skip this step, Many people who actually clean their cabinets before painting them skip this step,

By now you degreased, cleaned and rinsed the wood. Now let it dry over night. You can use a moisture reader to make sure it’s dry before you continue. They need to be free of moisture, Now we do a quick sand. Light, with 220 grit sand paper. Do not over sand.

Now you use your dust brush to brush off the dust and you’re ready to prime? Wrong again! After blowing off the dust, brushing off the dust, ragging off the dust, you need to wipe off the dust with bleached tack cloth. Now you are sure it is dust free. Also don’t sand in the same place you’re going to be spraying. That’s a given one. If you use an air compressor to blow off the dust, you have to make sure you only use that hose for dusting off and never use it on power tools because this can contaminate the surface of the wood.

Now you’re finally ready to do some priming. Especially when you’re doing 2 coats of primer, the first coat is a great time to let your painters start practicing spraying. Any mistakes can be easily sanded off and the first coat should be a light coat. Yup, spraying primer is a great opportunity to get your team practicing.
